Hot Rod Front Brakes

Adding to the long list of our 'New Traditionalist' product line is the Hot Rod Brake system. Concealing a disc brake inside a cosmetic aluminium drum cover is nothing new to the industry but the superior construction of this assembly is what puts it in a class by itself. This product is detailed to the max. The insert is diamond design and 1/2"-20 threaded stud located in the centre of brake pad

Master Cylinder

This 5/16" bore dual master cylinder fits the SO-CAL Step-Boxed frame as well as most other chassis.

SO-CAL now carries four styles of pedal pad, the original “bulls-eye”-style pad (A), the pyramid-design (B), the SO-CAL Art Deco pad (C) and the new cast aluminium competition pad (D). All are engineered to be interchangeable with the stock Ford pad.

Proportioning Valve

Manufactured by Wilwood and finished in anodized black, the proportioning valve lets you fine tune the front-to-rear braking balance by proportionately decreasing the rear (or in some cases the front) brake line pressure. Pressure adjustments range from 100-1,000 psi.

Replacement Bearings & Seals

We offer replacement bearings and seals for SO-CAL brakes. The bearings and seals are sold as a complete set of four (includes inner and outer races) and (2) seals.

Residual Valve (includes fittings)

Manufactured by Wilwood, residual valves retain a minimum brake line pressure to help eliminate excessive pedal travel in both disc and disc/drum brake systems. Available in two types: 2lb (blue), and 10lb (red). In most cases, a 2lb valve is good for all disc systems whereas we use both a 2lb and a 10lb in our disc/drum combinations.

Universal Brake Pedal Push Rod

Because no two braking systems are the same our universal brake pedal rod is tapped extra deep so it can be cut to any length between 9-1/2" and 11-1/4". Its heavy duty construction insures perfect brake pedal application every time.

Made by Lokar, this chrome-plated E-brake lever has classic good looks and a ratchet-cut gear plate. The floor-mounted model folds flat to the floor, out of the way. Also available 11- and 16-inch trans mounted models along with protective boots.

Air Inlet Brake Scoops

These bolt on air scoops are designed specifically for SO-CAL Brakes but with minor modification fit '39-'48 Ford backing plates.They are made of investment cast stainless steel and come in either plain or polished finish.

Finned Brake Scoop

Another one of OTB's finned products. This finned brake scoop gives your brake set-up an even more traditional look. Fits 1939-1948 Ford backing plates. Polished. Sold in pair.

NOTE: These will not fit the SO-CAL Hot Rod Front Brake kit.

Hot Rod Brake Rear Drum Covers (pair)

Developed to match the front brakes, these die cast aluminium covers are designed to fit over a 9" Ford rear drum. They index off the 2.8" rear drum register and come with a unilug pattern for 5 on 4 1/2", 4 3/4", 5" and 5 1/2". Available in plain or polished.

9" Ford ' Police Special' Rear Drum Brakes

Designed and manufactured to bolt right on to a 9-inch Ford rear end, these brand new, complete Ford brakes are based on the ' Police Special' brakes of 1959. Measuring 11-inches in diameter, they come with drums, 2-1/4-inch wide shoes, cylinders and hardware.

Lincoln Style Backing Plates

These stamped steel '39 Lincoln-style brakes are full-contact, self-energizing 12-inch Bendix-style brakes that fit 1928-'48 early Fords. This is a complete, bolt-on conversion that uses your '37 to '48 hubs and drums. Kit includes steel reproduction braking plates, new wheel cylinders, new brake shoes and springs and all hardware.

Brake Line Bulkhead Fittings

Here is a clever idea for those of you who consider brake line tabs a little unsightly. These S/S fittings are designed to go completely through and up to a 2 1/4" wide boxed frame section and are fully adjustable for that perfect fit. SOLD IN PAIRS.

-Die cast aluminium alloy drum covers. Casting flaws such as pin holes and voids are a thing of the past.

-The backing plate is constructed of pre-polished deep drawn stamped stainless steel. Here again, a flawless finish prevails.

-Air inlet scoops are heat treated investment cast stainless steel, again showing no casting flaws.

-The Hot Rod Brake system uses Wilwood dual piston aluminium callipers and our own vented cast iron rotors.

-The entire assembly rides on a New Traditionalist CNC machined aluminium hub that includes the highest quality bearings and seals on the market.

-Hot Rod Brakes are available in 5 on 41/2" , 43/4" and 51/2" bolt circles and fit 37-41 Ford round (not square) style spindles.

-Rear drum covers are also available and designed to fit over 11" Ford drums.

The brakes the classic hot rods ran in the old days are back! These were considered to be the ultimate brakes for your hot rod and now they are being manufactured again. you can order them plain or polished as shown. These are made of lightweight aluminum, cast iron liner, large 14" ford backing plates with 11" X 2-1/4" brake shoes. All brake parts are by Bosch for Ford 2006 production. No "Prehistoric Parts". Drums only fit a big bearing late and early. The big bearing early may require minor housing modifications.
